My first time in Hells Precipice our group had some disconnects but we reformed and continued only to face more disconnects. Finally around 3 AM we decided to push on despite having lost our monk player and all but 2 warriors, our monk henchie, and me (a noobish ranger). I was running an interrupt heavy build and was carrying rebirth as well as healing breeze : )

Anyway the warriors were both much more experienced than I but were our only real offense so they stayed on the front line and fought..and died periodically. Meanwhile I was interrupting as many as best I could while casting my heals : ) ....and rebirthing as needed.

In the end the four of us made it through and completed the mish. At the end of it all the group leader (who had been helping a guildie through the mish, as I recall, before the guildie DC'd--and still he stayed to help the rest of the team !) said, "nice work Ashen."

May sound lame but that compliment really meant alot to me after the three of us (+ our henchie of course) had been through hell together.

Going to Forgemaster wit ha PUG. We breeze through, clear out the Temple, and then halfway through defend the temple half the party gets dc'ed. APPARENTLY ANet decided to divide by zero.

OH SHI- (lol)

We're left with:
Me, the tank
HBoon Monk
Barrage ranger
2nd Barrage Ranger

We manage to barely scrape by thanks to the monk's excellent timing. We just barely make it out of clearing the seeds, and everyone grabs whatever FoW armor they're after (for me, a Helmet) - and I find out that two of the guys were just there to help out, they had no real reason to come (not guildies, or anything) but just because they felt like it. Hell, when I bit it one of them gave me a sweet or two to clear my DP.

the nicest person ive met in GW is probably my guild leader, in the beggining of this game i went through quite a few guilds that just kind disbanded a few which i became the guild leader of somehow o.0, but i wanted a real guild so i asked in LA if anyone had a guild i could join and he pmed me saying that he had a guild that i could join and i joined and from then on he taught me the majority and the fundementals of the game (such as how to properly rune my armor) and on more than one occasion when i was looking for an item has simply given the items without a second thought and that is why I can say aslong as my guild leader keeps playing I will never leave my guild

If anyones curious.
Old friend of mine who got banned, was the best guy in GW.
~~~
I was about to just give up on the game all together, my guild disbanded and my ranger was stuck at level 17 in proph, when rangers ment something, and well I bought Factions for the hell of it.Just too see if any changes were made to re-"invent" the game. Well, I found the assassin, and oh boy I had fun with him and he's my main, I don't care what they nerf, but onto my story.
Through some wierd turn of events, I meet Demon at the Zen mission afterwards he offerd me to join the guild, me and my new friend, Demon, started playing the game together for fun.
Since he helped me, I helped the guild members, hopefully people will get the idea, this games not ment to be played solo. Enjoy the time you take with people who help you, and people you help.
Speaking of that, i'm bored. So, you might see me playing around and helping or just farming. If you do, throw a wave or two.
~~~"If your handed a tourch, pass the flame!"~~~

P.S
I bought him another account, so he's back.

Desert run for free was pretty nice since it saves you a lot of time. I gave a few people some stacks of Jade orbs during one of the events so they could get their masks. I thought that was pretty nice I hope they still have them.

Makosi aka "Requirement starts with R not Q"

Met him in DWC ages ago while he was giving away ectos and greenies. I didn't want to take freebies and instead asked him for his farming build. From that point on he would show me a new area to farm and how to farm it. Also, he gave me a perfect-modded Stilettos when I was QQ'ing about not being able to find any.

There was a ranger guy called Sarwrax something I met while running to desert outposts for free. Some people gave tips, but this one was being funny the whole run and the whole team had lots of fun. He ended up giving me fully-modded Sai (which I later gave to friend asa) and my ranger's spider answers to the name Sarwrax to this day. Named him on that same run over two years ago.

First off I want to say this thread is a wonderful way to snap out of the funk that is known as jerkitus. Anyways My guild is full of amazing folks we try t o help out one another when we can. One gave me the Bison Cup to help me out when I smite CoF with him. The real reason I'm posting is to toot my friends horn. She started off as just another CoF runner in the beginning but now she's a really nice friend. Today she was trying to farm a couple greens for one of her friends and I happened to have one that she needed and asked if I could tag along to help get the other. We were talking through the umpteen runs to try and get Rien's Sacrifice (which never drop the stingy jerk) and I mentioned I was debating selling my ecto or getting the other 17 so I can get my Chaos Gloves. She told me to keep plugging away and get the other 17. Well a few runs later she said brb and I went off to try again to get the green. She pm's me that she's back and I told her what was up. She said that she needed to deliver something and that she needed me there. Well I map back to Matuu and she opens trade and lo and behold there's the last 17e I need. I am so grateful for that I try a couple more times to get the green give up and head to Kaaning and just buy the offhand just to try and pay back a fraction of her kindness. People like her makes me happy to play GW. I say we need more people like that and more stories!

My allies in the now-defunct alliance I was in...fantastic people. Threw me a birthday party for my RL birthday that resulted in my having to create a new mule.

When I started going for a green wep I really coveted, so many of them helped me farm the area overandoverandoverandover trying to get the stinkin' thing. Eventually, after lots of non-success trying to get the stupid boss to drop the thing, one of my allies surprised me with it as a gift. I LOVED that weapon, just for that reason.

Same with an expensive mini I wanted - I scraped and saved for ages, helped along here and there with little donations as gifts from allies (just in the 500g-1k range, but it was so kind), and selling me ecto cheap to go toward the purchase price. Eventually, I was halfway toward my goal, and an ally whispered me that he'd found a great deal that was about what I'd saved so far. I got my mini, and my ally got a little donation toward his obsidian armor fund as a thank you.

Oh! And when I was a little noob running around the Shiverpeaks, saving for my first set of 15k, my then-GL surprised me with the money and mats for my gloves. I was boggled - that was the first really, really kind gesture from an ally/guildie and it made me really happy.

Paying it forward - I spent a lot of time nuking for allies that needed help in missions - often more time than I spent on my own stuff. Also offered up weapons, mats and cash whenever needed.

This kind of thing is definitely an antidote to the jerk behavior. Love it.

Well, I must say that this thread has made me think that there really are nice people in the game. Sadly, most people who are ever nice to me later became a huge jerk *usually, they either joined my guild or vice versa and someone ended up getting kicked/leaving*. I suppose the nicest thing a person has done without becoming a jerk later one would be one person giving me some builds to improve my necro back when I was a newb, then helped me kill Glint when that was actually tough*long long long time ago*.

I have to admit, there are MANY good hearted players in GW.
When I joined my guild..I was the low dog on the totem pole sort-of-speak.
A few months went by, with me laying low...when someone in the guild found out I love bows.
Next thing I know...ALL the guildies would bring me every skin imaginable of the bows offered in GW!!!!
My collection is magnificent!
Thanks SMS guildmates..I love each and every one of youz...*HUGZ*

Actaully nobody did something nice for me, but i did many nice things for many many peeps.....e.g.: Droks runs for few money, running missions for free, give away things i don't need cos i'm too lazy to trade....give away elite tomes to a friend...trade an armbrace of truth for a shield i wanted which avlue was actually less than armbrace....and yesterday when i was in Chantry of Secrets with my 130hp derv i kneel in front of Grenth and eneter the UW; there was another derv over there and he whisped me: are u going to have some fun in the UW?? i replied i was going to solo some aatxe for ectos and he saked if he could join.....i said ok and resigned...he did not have any idea of UW and it was his really first time he went in so i said he should just watch and learn from what was doing.....i begin killing the aatxe, but no ectos (this was the 5th run in the day and i hadn't got an ecto so far)..last aatxe drop an ecto for the other dude o_O when he was just standing over the spirits and watching
He pick up the ecto and ask me: What is this???
ME: an ecto...it's worth 4,8/5k and as u said u needed money u are lucky....
HE: ok thanx.....
ME: you should drop it or make 50/50 as actually i did all the job and u did actually nothing, but take it anyway...
HE: thanks dude!!

Take the quest and go for the grasps....the dude move and they come to me, they interrupt me and they kill me.... he had no res.......well..i think i could actually scam him and offer 1k for the ecto as he had no idea of the price or value..after 5 runs i was getting tired of wasting money for nothing but he was so a nice guy..XD

Well.. i think i have several nice ppl in GW..
at first, the normal friend things you do for eachother..

But the thing i enjoyed most was when i was doing foW HM with an ursan group.

At an early stage of the game.. (before the tower!!) the other monk got disconnected.. so i was on my own.. I had my Glimmer (arcane mimicry) build on. And i kept the whole team alive throughout the mission.. (BIG Thanks to the Warrior who brought BLood ritual!)

While we gotten further in FoW they complimented me on my healing
and at the end they all said i did great.. added the BR warrior so we can do FoW more often. Best thing of this story is that some ppl laugh at me for using the glimmer build... Too bad they didn't see that run..

I've been collecting greens and golds for a guild event I'm hosting. One day I was sitting in Kamadan and just asking in All, "Anyone willing to let me take any unwanted greens/golds of their hands?"

One guy came up to me and said "I have a few." He ended up giving me 12 weapons.

once i was doing FoW with a pug, long time ago, at the beginning of gw
i was monking, was also having a bit of a rough time. anyway, one of the warr's mouse (his name was Slithery Stalker) was broken, so he couldnt pick up any of his drops. Anyway, i thought it'd be unfair if they were just stolen by some other player once they're not reserved anymore, so as soon as they were "free" i picked them up and gave them to him later.

Anyway, dont mean to glorify myself, because this is was happened:
we became good friends later on. i went on to pvp, he did a bit of both, though also primarily pvp. somehow he was able to get 90 ectos (i assume through rather excessive farming). anyway, he decided he didnt need the ectos, and gave them to me oO (this was at the time when ectos were worth about 15k each). Unfortunately, he quit soon after that. He was definetely the nicest guy i'd met on gw, but he seemed to be having trouble in rl. hope it worked out for him.

another bunch of nice ppl were the players in the pug that got me my fow armor (using the ectos from ol' Slithery). We went in with 8 ppl, 4 ppl left right at the start, leaving me as the only monk with 2 eles and 1 warr.
We were lucky as hell that we made it to the forgemaster (ofc i had mentioned that i wanted to get the armor). We even completed all the quests needed, and i got my monk fow. It ended up they only stayed to help me get my armor, a very unusual thing nowadays, since everyones just interested in their personal gain....

Got nice stuff from a few mates before they quitted GW (even though it'd have been better if they stayed).
Also, keep getting loans from active friends is great as well so I'd say thanks this way as well.

I also like ppl who say "nice healing" or stuff like that in RA etc.

Default Proof nice people are in the game...

I had just created a new Ranger in NF, and was tooling about in Kamadan, when I was invited into a party by another, Level 20 Ranger.

This Ranger proceeded to drop a Green Bow, and told me it was mine.

I didn't ask for it. He/she merely gave it to me, sight unseen, and completely un-asked for.

Of course I said thanks...

If it was This Longbow, then I can understand. Otherwise, plenty of people are nice in Guild Wars. I'm one of them myself.

Proof that people aren't: I was in Saltspray Beach discussing Yaoi with another player when a total stranger told me to "shut up, fag". Nice going, though. I hope that their friendship is more than simply material.
